We are in the process of updating our itineraries for 2010 and we will be offering a range of products and safari destinations through out northern Botswana.  We hope to have the the prices and itineraries complete around Dec 14, 09.

• All our trips will be mobile camping safaris but we'll have these options:
  • a budget, participation safari (clients help set up camp)
  • a non-participation safari (camp staff sets up camp and cooks)
  • an end to your safari with a few days at a luxury lodge in the Okavango Delta
    

• Flexible itineraries and an "a la carte" safari:
  
  • Though we will offer set itineraries, we will work with clients who prefer to customize their safari
  • For example,  a client can choose:
    • to visit only Chobe and Moremi
      
    • spend extra days in the Chobe
      
    • combine the Central Kalahari with the Magkadigkadi Pans
      
    • combine Chobe, Moremi, and Xai Xai
    • to make any combination and length of stay

A BOTSWANA JOURNEY

Join us on this two week safari as we embark on a journey across Botswana. We'll visit the vast grasslands of the Makgadikgadi Pans, the swamps of the Moremi Game Reserve, the forests and riverfronts of Chobe National Park and the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Northern Botswana is famous for it's beautiful African landscapes filled with game. With luck we'll see the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo), hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, antelopes, numerous bird species, and hopefully, the elusive African wild dog.  Be sure to bring your camera and enough film or disc space for all of your photos because the shooting will be unbelievable.

Our lodging will be in public and private campsites where we'll cook our own meals and fall asleep to the sounds of the African night. If you have an adventurous spirit and are willing to rough-it on the back-roads of Africa, this trip is for you!

Detailed Itinerary

Trip Dates:  Aug 28-Sept 9 2009. These are dates for the Botswana leg of the trip.  You may decide to arrive in Johannesburg on the night of Aug 26 for a full day in the city or arrive in Jo'burg on the 27th.  Also you may want to include an extra day at the end of the trip to see more of the Victoria Falls area.  Be aware the price of the trip does not include hotels, food or other expenses outside of the above dates (see the "Costs" page of this site).  Please contact us for suggestions about extending your trip.

Evening arrival in Johannesburg (depending on your flight details).

Optional day: Rest and relax in Jo'burg or visit Soweto and other sites. Make final preparations for departure.

Days 1 and 2: Morning flight from Jo'burg to Victoria Falls.  Meet our guide, Ian Milne of Swampland Safaris and depart directly to Chobe National Park to set up camp and begin our first afternoon game drive.  Travel time from Victoria Falls airport to Chobe camp: 2.5 hrs.

Days 3 and 4: Drive south through Chobe to the Savuti Channel.  Set up camp and explore the Savuti and Linyanti areas.  Travel time from Chobe riverfront to Savuti camp: 6 hrs.

Days 5 and 6: Drive from Savuti into the adjacent Moremi Game Reserve. Set up camp and explore the many waterways of Moremi.  Travel time from Savuti to our Moremi camp: 6hrs.

Day 7 and 8: Depart Moremi for Maun.  Resupply in town and expore the Okavango Delta by mokoros (dugout canoe). Overnight in a tented campsite near Maun.  Day 8 we'll overnight on an island in the Delta from which we'll conduct a walking safari and mokoro rides. Travel time from Moremi to Maun: 6hrs; from Maun to Okavango Delta: 1 hr.

Day 9: Depart Maun for Makgadikgadi National Park.  We'll do a game drive along the Boteti River and overnight in the park. Travel time from Maun to Magkagdikagdi Park: 3 hrs.

Day 10 and 11: Continue from Makgadikgadi to Nxai Pans National Park.  Overnight at Nxai.  Travel time from Makgadikgadi to Nxai Park: 3 hrs.

Day 12: Depart Nxai and return to Victoria Falls.  Explore the falls and surrounding area in the afternoon. Travel time from Nxai to Victoria Falls: 6 hrs.

Day 13: Spend time exploring Victoria Falls.  Return flight to Jo'burg.

Optional extension: You may want to add an extra day to spend in Victoria Falls and return to Jo'burg on day 14.  The falls are spectacular and the area offers a wealth of activities.
