Tanzania Trails

A 7 Day Wildlife Adventure

Tanzania Trails

The perfect introduction to Tanzania!  On this 7 day safari, you'll explore the highlights of Tanzania's northern parks, each with strikingly diverse landscapes and wildlife. Your journey begins with Tarangire National Park, famous for a landscape dotted with baobab trees and large herds of elephants.  Continue on to the Serengeti, arguably the most famous wildlife park in the world, where you'll feel lost in the vast open plains filled with millions of wildebeest, zebra, and other wildlife.  Then it's on to the equally famous Ngorongoro Crater, an enormous caldera set in the stunning volcanic highlands.  You're journey ends with a game drive in Lake Manyara Park along the Great Rift Escarpment where thousands of flamingos breed in the caustic lake and lions are known to climb trees!

This safari has scheduled departures departing every Saturday from Arusha and guaranteed with a minimum of 2 people.  You'll stay in small, independently owned lodges, permanent camps, and classic luxury tented camps.

Day 1 | Arrive in Arusha | Mount Meru Game Lodge

After clearing with customs and Immigration formalities at the airport, you will be met by your driver guide for the short transfer to your Lodge, nestled between the peaks of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure or visit the Game Sanctuary that has for many years provided a safe haven to African plains game.

Day 2 | Tarangire National Park | Kirurumu Manyara Lodge

This morning, wake to the views of Mt Meru before heading down to breakfast. After collecting your packed lunch, you will join your driver guide as you head to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive.  As the afternoon begins to end, you will make your way out of the park and towards your camp, located on the Great Rift Valley Escarpment.

Day 3-4 | Serengeti National Park | Kati Kati Tented Camp

After breakfast and check out, depart to the Serengeti with a packed lunch. On arrival into the park, enjoy a game drive towards your camp. You'll spend two nights in absolute comfort combined with the authenticity of nights spent in the African bush, an extraordinary experience for all nature lovers.  Day 4 will be a full day of game drives in the Serengeti searching for wildlife.

Day 5 | Ngorongoro Conservation Area | Acacia Farm Lodge

After breakfast and check out  - depart with a packed lunch and drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way you will one of the world's most important prehistoric sites, Olduvai Gorge, for a tour and lecture. Proceed on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and on clearing the paperwork you will drive through the Crater Rim from where you will have the opportunity – weather permitting – to see the Crater, in all its glory. Drive onto your Lodge, located in lush grounds within the Karatu Area.

Day 6 | Ngorongoro Conservation Area | Acacia Farm Lodge

Get up early to make the most out of your day in the Ngorongoro Crater.  The Crater is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unbroken caldera in the world.  You'll descend the steep road to the crater floor and spend the day exploring the crater and enjoying the wildlife.  Lions, elephants, hyenas, and plains game all inhabit the crater and there's also a chance you'll see a rare black rhino.  Return to your lodge before dusk, and in time to freshen up before dinner.

Day 7 | Lake Manyara National Park & Return to Arusha

After departing the Ngorongoro area, you'll spend the morning exploring the small but impressive Lake Manyara Park.  Set at the foot of the escarpment, this park is home to lions, elephants, and (depending on the season) thousands of flamingos that breed on this alkaline lake.  Return to Arusha for lunch and transfer to the airport for your flight.
